Chatsworth, known as Los Angeles' last frontier town, plays host to Pioneer Day on October 4, 2009 from 11am to 4pm. This annual event is hosted by the Chatsworth Historical Society at the Minnie Palmer Homestead Acre nestled in the foothills of the Santa Susana Pass. The event features a chili cook-off for amateur chefs, exhibits and displays in the Chatsworth Museum and Homestead Cottage; panning for gold; blacksmithing; Indian artifacts; woodcarvers and rockchippers; "chores of yore"; food and entertainment; and lots more!
